Message from Your President – MARCH
Dear Pennsylvania NABIP members,
March gives us an opportunity to reflect on the 2026 NABIP Capitol Conference, which welcomed more than 700 attendees, including 200 first-time participants. Monday featured keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and discussions on the state of the association, with presentations from CMS, CCIIO, the FDA Commissioner, and members of Congress. Nearly 30 members represented our chapter from across the Commonwealth, and we were honored with a PAC award recognizing our contribution levels.
During the Board of Directors session, members discussed NABIPโs ongoing CEO leadership transition. While employment matters limit specific disclosures, transparency, particularly around financial reporting, was a central focus. NABIPโs new Controller joined the Executive Committee to outline the associationโs financial position, next steps, and plans for regular financial updates to membership. His messaging, background, and future goals, both short and long-term, are quite reassuring. Revenue and expenses will be closely monitored, with transparency remaining a priority. The Board continues to fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities, and NABIPโs mission, programs, and member services remain uninterrupted. Our chapter remains exceptionally strong, with record membership, solid finances, and a growing pipeline of new talent.
Tuesdayโs annual Day on the Hill brought members together with House and Senate legislators and staff to advocate for key policy priorities. A new third-party app enhanced the experience by centralizing talking points, legislator information, scheduling, and communications โ significantly streamlining the process for attendees and state legislative leaders.
Walking the halls of Congress remains a powerful reminder of the opportunity we have as constituents to make our voices heard, made even more meaningful during our nationโs 250th anniversary year. With the State of the Union address scheduled that evening, the energy on Capitol Hill was electric. Encouragingly, lawmakers from both parties demonstrated strong engagement and a shared interest in addressing healthcare cost drivers while improving outcomes for those we serve.
Now, we turn our focus to the PA-NABIP Annual Conference on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Drexelbrook Conference Center. This yearโs theme, Shaping the Future of Healthcare Insurance in Pennsylvania, will feature keynote speaker Sue Schick, President and Chief Revenue Officer at Zelis, sharing insights on innovation, along with a panel of representatives from Pennsylvaniaโs major carriers. The program includes two morning CE credit options, exhibit time, luncheon, featured speakers, and concludes with a cocktail reception. As our chapterโs marquee annual event, we hope to see many of you there.
